Racism Alive and Well in Japan...And Protected By the Courts!


Here I've been praising the courts in Japan of late only to belatedly read a post at the Frog's blog followed by the much more indepth post at Riding Sun. If you want a news article on it, go here.

Seems that a black man was told to leave an eye glass store because, well, because he was black and the owner didn't like black people. Annoyed, this man sued the store owner for discrimination. The courts, in their wisdom, said that because the man's Japanese isn't completely fluent, he just might, might have misunderstood the owner. This despite the fact that the guy had later gone back to the store and gotten it on tape!
