Woman! Know Your Place!
And that place is NOT on the throne in Japan. I mean, how could they let a mere woman ascend to such a lofty position. It is unthinkable. Yep, this is modern Japan, women need not apply.
About 10,000 people including Diet members plan to gather in Tokyo next Tuesday to oppose a proposal which they say would break Japan's imperial tradition by allowing females and their descendants to ascend the throne, organizers of the rally and some Diet members said Thursday.Oh yes, this is about 'tradition.' Notice though how company executives are lining up behind it; I'm sure they feel this 'tradition' extends farther than the throne.
"We must think of a method to preserve the male line. We hope the national rally not to be a radical one, but one which can arouse public opinions quietly and steadily, and also makes people understand the importance of tradition," said Takeo Hiranuma, an independent House of Representatives member who will join the rally at the Nippon Budokan hall in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward.
The rally will mark the inaugural meeting of the National Association to Respect Tradition of the Imperial House, which about 330 people, including academics, critics and company executives, have so far signed up to join, according to the organizers.
